Hello, greetings from Boneza! My name is Alice.
I’m a student at Kivu Hills Academy (KHA) studying masonry. My dream is to become the first female civil engineer in Boneza! When I’m not studying or working, I also enjoy singing and playing basketball and soccer.
Along with my siblings, I live with my grandparents at home, and I take good care of them. They have raised me ever since my parents passed away when I was young. It’s difficult for them to work, so they couldn’t pay for my education. However, God made waves through Arise Rwanda and I was gifted a scholarship to attend KHA. This gift of education changed not only my life, but my family’s as well.
Because of the skills I’ve learned at KHA, I am now blessed with the opportunity to both study and also work. I helped to construct the dorms on campus during one of my holidays, and I make a steady income with my masonry skills supporting construction projects around Boneza.
Now I support my family. I make sure my family is fed and I also pay school fees for my siblings because I understand how valuable education is. This is Arise Rwanda’s “teach to fish” model. I will forever be grateful for the parental love that has been shown to me and other sponsored students.
Thank you for answering the call from God to support me in my studies, along with many others alongside me.
