Eric is a student in Senior 6 Construction at Kivu Hills Academy (KHA). He is 21 years and lives in the Rugamba Village in Boneza, Rwanda. He lives with his parents and is the 1st born of 7 children. Before joining KHA, Eric could not speak a single sentence in English. He is now in his final stretch at KHA.

As a construction student, Eric has passionately learned how to construct houses and start a profitable business. He prides himself on the evolution of his interpersonal and communication skills, spiritual strength, and leadership, knowing it will help him to achieve his life goals. Eric also says with gratitude that KHA has taught him discipline and reinforced positive behavior. He believes he has become a new person during his journey at KHA. With his entrepreneurial skills Eric has successfully started and maintained a chicken coop project which helps him to provide financially for his family.

Alongside Eric’s ambitious studies, he is a proud member of the worship team at KHA and his local church. He actively participates in church events to mentor youth in the community. By sharing his personal story of growth with others, he hopes to encourage a bright future. To give back to his community, Eric uses his construction knowledge to assist local leaders in building homes for the poor and widowed. By utilizing his skills, Eric is able to secure jobs around the community which is how he purchases his learning materials.

Eric says that his biggest goals are to serve the poor, to increase the standard of living for his family, and to provide his siblings with the opportunity of education by paying their school fees. He is incredibly grateful for his education and says that KHA staff members care not only about academic skills, but also discipline, spiritual skills, social skills, accommodation, nutrition, and physical skills. Eric wants to openly thank both the KHA Administration and teaching staff members for their effort in always providing excellent education to their students. He believes firmly that if they will continue with this standard, Kivu Hills Academy could be the best school in Rwanda, and even in Africa.
