Have A Cow
One cow can affect a whole community.
The Campaign
One of Arise Rwanda’s first initiatives, the Have A Cow Campaign was created to provide cows to members of the Boneza, Rwanda community. Over 500 cows have been gifted to local families so far.
The Impact
A cow transforms the life of an impoverished family in Boneza, Rwanda. When a cow is gifted to a family, income and nutrition are both affected as the family becomes blessed with milk and manure.
Nutrients from the milk are scarcely consumed elsewhere before this gift. Growing coffee and other crops is often the only self-sustaining opportunity for Boneza residents. By boosting the quality of crops with manure, families receive more money in local sales.
One cow can affect a whole community
When one member of the community receives a cow, the impact spreads throughout Boneza. Over 150 cows have been given to families since this initiative started in 2011. When a family is gifted with a cow, they are blessed with nutritious milk, manure for greater crops, and, with the help of the community bull, a calf. When a calf is born it is gifted to a neighbor, and the impact continues to spread.
