Meet Irakoze, a KHA Student studying AI and advanced robotics.
Irakoze was born on February 2, 2005, into a Protestant household as one of 12 siblings.
Irakoze joined KHA in 2023 in grade 10 and will be entering grade 11 in September. She had always dreamed of attending KHA, the prestigious institute known for its cutting-edge programs in technology and engineering. The moment she received her acceptance letter was unforgettable; her heart pounded with excitement and disbelief.
Currently, Irakoze is immersed in learning advanced robotics and artificial intelligence. This school year, she is particularly excited about a new course on machine learning applications in everyday life. Her favorite achievement so far has been designing and programming autonomous drones, which she sees as the future of transportation and delivery systems, especially in remote areas like her hometown of Boneza.
Choosing her field of study was not difficult for Irakoze. She was inspired by the technological challenges faced by her community. She envisions a future where she can bring innovative solutions back home. After KHA, she hopes to develop sustainable technologies that improve the quality of life in rural communities. She dreams of starting her own tech company that focuses on creating affordable and accessible tech solutions.
The culture at KHA is vibrant and dynamic. Students are driven, passionate, and collaborative, with a shared goal of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Teachers at KHA are more than just instructors; they are mentors who inspire and challenge their students to think critically and creatively. With real-world experience, they make learning both practical and insightful.
If Irakoze were to describe the KHA campus to someone who has never seen it, she would say it’s a blend of modern architecture and natural beauty. The buildings are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, and the campus is dotted with green spaces where students can relax and brainstorm. Her favorite spots on campus are the computer labs, volleyball courts, and soccer fields, which are always buzzing with activity and ideas.
Burera, Irakoze’s hometown, is a picturesque village nestled in the hills. For someone who has never been there, Burera offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The best things about Burera are its close-knit community and stunning natural landscapes, which foster an unmatched sense of belonging.
One of the funniest and craziest stories from Irakoze’s time at KHA happened during a late-night project in the computer lab. Her team was testing a prototype machine when it suddenly malfunctioned. They spent the next hour frantically fixing it, trying to bring it back safely online. Despite the chaos, the incident brought the team closer together and gave them a story to laugh about for years to come.
Irakoze’s journey at KHA has been one of growth, learning, and inspiration. Every day, she is driven by the desire to bring positive change to her community through technology. Her time at KHA is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about building a future where she can make a difference.
