Student at Kivu Hills Academy
Education Level: Freshman
Hello! My name is Jean D’dieu, and I’m a 21 year old student at Kivu Hills Academy. I am a freshman at KHA choosing to study Masonry. I enjoy meeting and learning about new people, playing volleyball, listening to Rwandan stories from older people around the community, and helping to build homes for widows during my holidays. My dream is to become a civil engineer and build affordable homes for impoverished families in Rwanda.
I live in a small village called Gihango in Boneza in the western province of Rwanda. My family are subsistent farmers growing food for home consumption. My family also grows tea and we sell it at a tea factory. That’s how my family makes money to help us go to school. Both of my parents work so hard in their farm and make about $1 a day. I have three siblings and we recently adopted an orphan who is three years old. On top of my parents’ low income, COVID-19 made a large impact on my family’s finances, so my parents are unable to pay school fees for my siblings and me.
Please kindly consider giving me HOPE to continue studying at Kivu Hills Academy. It costs $400 a year to study at Kivu Hills Academy. This includes three meals a day, dorm accommodations, access to the library, and to attend classes.
