Meet Marie Jeanne!
Marie Jeanne studies Computer Sciences at Kivu Hills Academy (KHA).
Growing up in Boneza, Marie lives with her single mother and her little brother. Her mother works from 6am-5pm on local construction projects and makes modest earnings of $1 a day. Marie’s family is also practiced in farming, like many others in Boneza. When Marie completed middle school, she was in the top of her class but had no hope to attend high school as her mother couldn’t afford to pay for her education. Although, after an Arise Rwanda employee paid a visit to the family’s home, Marie’s hope was restored. Learning that Marie had dropped out school because her mother couldn’t afford it, Arise Rwanda immediately intervened and extended tuition assistance so that her educational journey could continue at Kivu Hills Academy.
Today, Marie is pursuing her education in computer sciences. She wants to develop computer software that supports the farmers in Boneza, helping them to better their practices and expand international coffee markets. Marie expresses her tremendous gratitude for the opportunity she’s been gifted at KHA.
Thank you for supporting the children of Boneza!
