Jessica’s Journey from Hopelessness to Opportunity at Kivu Hills Academy
Jessica is a 21-year-old student at Kivu Hills Academy (KHA), studying Tourism and Hospitality in grade 10 (Level 3). Her journey to KHA was not an easy one. After completing middle school, her parents could not afford to send her to high school, a common challenge for many children in her village. Jessica was heartbroken and unsure of what her future would hold. As she began to lose hope, a life-changing message arrived from Arise Rwanda Ministries.
Local leaders in her village contacted her family to share the incredible news that Jessica had been selected to receive a three-year scholarship from the organization. At first, Jessica and her parents were in disbelief. “We thought it was too good to be true,” she recalls. “We even asked a neighbor with a smartphone to research and confirm that the school actually existed!” Once they realized the offer was genuine, their hearts filled with joy and gratitude.
Jessica is now thriving at KHA, one of Rwanda’s top technical schools, and she couldn’t be more thankful. “I am so happy and grateful for the great opportunity I was given to attend one of the best schools in the country,” she shares. “I have a future now because of my education.” She dreams of a career in the tourism and hospitality industry, contributing to Rwanda’s growing reputation as a world-class travel destination.
Beyond academics, Jessica treasures the vibrant community and supportive environment at KHA. Her teachers and classmates inspire her to dream big, work hard, and believe in herself. Jessica credits KHA not only for her education but also for helping her grow in faith and confidence.
“I thank Arise Rwanda Ministries for investing in my future and giving me hope when I had none,” Jessica says. She continues to encourage others to support Arise Rwanda Ministries, whose mission transforms lives through education. “Please continue to support students like me so we can achieve our dreams.”
